3 Days of Symposiums
O.P.T.I.O.N.S will feature three days of symposiums geared toward personal development in the key areas of education, professional/career development, and financial stability. The symposium is concluded with a Career Fair that will allow attendees to utilize the knowledge and resources they have gained in the symposium. All attendees will be provided with a USB preloaded with workshop presentations, documents, and tools.
Education Symposium
Wednesday August 25th, 2021
Education Symposium will include three workshops:
- ABC’s of College Planning
- Financing Education: Scholarships and More
Whether the student is in high school, currently enrolled in college, returning to college, planning to go to graduate school or interested in studying abroad, The Financing Education: Scholarships and More presentation is a necessity for those who want to pursue their educational goals. Topics covered include planning for higher education costs, various forms of financial aid, and financial aid application. Forty-five minute workshop. - ACT Prep Workshop
This workshop provides current and potential higher education students with information and guidance for a successful path to college attainment and graduation. Workshop will provide participant with the insight needed to assess their career interests and aspirations, begin researching colleges to pursue those goals, and guide participants through the process of completing and submitting an application for admission to the school of their choice. One hour, fifteen minute workshop.
The Act Prep Workshop introduces participants to the ACT and techniques to successfully take the test. Participants gain confidence in all four components of the test by reviewing terminology and concepts, becoming familiar with the test structure, and covering test taking tips. Two-hour workshop.

Career Symposium will include three workshops:
- Fundamentals of Financial Wellness
This workshop provides an overview of the field of financial planning and the planning process. Topics include personal financial statements, budgeting, emergency fund planning, credit and debt management, and financial planning for special circumstances. One hour, fifteen minute workshop.
- Interview Preparation – Interviewing for Success
This workshop focuses on tips and techniques for effective job interviewing. Topics that will be addressed include interview preparation, dressing for an interview, the interview process, and interview follow up. One-hour workshop. - Resume and Cover Letter Building _ Presenting the Best You!
This workshop provides detailed explanations as well as step-by-step processes for creating an effective resume and cover letter. Participants will learn to develop both a resume and cover letter and be provided with resume building tools for later use. Two-hour workshop.
Thursday, August 27, 2021 – Financial Symposium
- Introduction to Credit and Credit Re-building
Credit is one if the most important aspects of personal finances. Credit is important because it enables individuals to borrow money when you need it. This workshop will focus on establishing and improving personal credit. One hour, fifteen minute workshop. - How to Build Business Credit
This workshop will focus on teaching business owners and entrepreneurs how to establish and maintain strong business credit. One hour, fifteen minute workshop.
Career Symposium / Entrepreneurship Program
Friday August 28, 2021
Participants will meet with employers, educational institutions, and organizations from the Greater Bay Area. Participants learn more about job and internship opportunities offered by companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Employers participate in the Career Fair to recruit for full–time, part-time, and internship opportunities.
The Career Fair will provide a networking opportunity that puts many different employers under one roof to network with potential employees. The Career Fair will assist in streamlining the hiring process by bringing together employers and job seekers to see if there’s a potential match. Potential employees can be put on the fast track to gaining employment, companies can fill vacancies and fore fill workforce needs and issues in the community.

- Follow-up To Career Symposium
The XsentreK Career Fair is a direct follow-up to the Career Symposium. Whereas the symposium is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Those attending the symposium will acquire or enhance skills in professional development, interviewing techniques, and resume and cover letter building.

- Why Attend The Career Fair
Career Fair participants will have the opportunity to interface with and present themselves to perspective employers, educational institutions, bay-area wide human resource departments, and bay-area wide community based organizations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and apply for part-time, temporary and full-time employment as well as internships.
- Employment Opportunities
Employers have been invited that are seeking immediate full-time, part-time, permanent, temporary, qualified personnel as well as intern opportunities. Personnel recruiters from bay-area wide municipalities, construction trades, building trades, airlines, fire departments, police departments, college recruiters, private schools, bay-area wide city human resource recruiters, bay area rapid transit (BART), hospitality industry, transportation companies, the Army, Navy, Marines, Air-force, National Guard, East Bay Municipality District, and greater bay area-wide community based organizations that offer employment referral services, etc.
